Projects

Our core business is in commercial construction including warehouses, community buildings, educational buildings, multi-unit housing projects, seismic strengthening and internal refurbishments in the Wellington area.

COLLEGE BUILDINGS

We have successfully completed projects at independent and public schools with each project completed on programme and within budget during the construction phase. Our commitment to excellence has been acknowledged through many Registered Master Builders Commercial Projects Awards including a gold award and category winner for the Scots College Science Wing, and a silver award for the New Gymnasium project at Samuel Marsden Collegiate School. We have also been awarded NZIA – Wellington Architecture Award for the Scots College Boarding House project.

AUDITORIUMS

We are strongly experienced in the creation of built-for-purpose auditoriums. Recent examples include a multi-million-dollar project to demolish existing buildings and construct the new 2500 square meter, four story Creative Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) (Scots College). Included in that project is a soundproof recording studio. As with all our projects we enjoy excellent relations with all our sub-contractors through good communication and prompt payment, and this ensures that projects, no matter how specialised, are completed on time and on budget.

sEISMIC STRENGTHENING

Seismic strengthening requires the retrofitting of supporting structures into buildings, using (for example) K beams, reinforced concrete beams, sprayed concrete shear walls, carbon wrapping and micro piles. Each project provides its own set of challenges, and we endeavour to find a cost-effective and safe solution to meet earthquake code rating. Our recent seismic strengthening projects have been completed ahead of schedule and within the agreed budget costs.

INDOOR SPORTS

Our projects have included the award-winning Hodge Sports Complex at Scots College, a state-of-the-art indoor sporting facility with complete automation of protective nets, exceptional natural light and award-winning construction methods that make use of curved Glulam beams. This $3 million project is featured in Trends Magazine. A related project that we have achieved success with is the Gymnasium at Samuel Marsden Collegiate complete with an international standard sprung floor.

industrial

No industrial project is beyond our expertise. A recent project that demonstrates this is the reconstruction of an old factory to create a new premise for Flight Plastics. What began as a $1 million re-roofing project, grew into a multi-million-dollar factory rebuild, making use of the existing floor. Where projects grow, we pride ourselves in completing the work efficiently and with a high level of quality control. We maintain long term relationships with our clients, and we have been providing construction services for the some of the same clients for over 40 years.

INTERIOR REFITS

There are often many facets to our work on any particular project. Complete construction projects frequently involve comprehensive interior fit-outs, and we are highly qualified and experienced in this line of work, from sound-proofed recording studios, to restaurant facilities, to commercial office refurbishments. Any refit project can be applied to an existing structure, and as with all our projects we approach an interior refit project with emphasis on the client’s needs, budget and timeframe. If you can design it, we can construct it.

HOSPITALITY

We have had the pleasure of building and fitting Speights Ale House premises, the Thistle Arms, as well as some related smaller projects in the Wellington area. Each construction project is unique, but our collective skills and expertise from over 90 years of construction allows us to accurately price, schedule and complete virtually any project to an extremely high standard. One such unusual project was our construction of the Cable Car Terminal Upgrade, which required extensive support for the high rise building above, and careful noise control during the extensive pre-construction phase.

AWARD RESIDENTIAL

Our management ethos is built on strong relationships with each client and consultant, to form a very effective team culture to ensure projects are completed with minimum disruption and to the highest of standards. This ethos applies equally to multimillion-dollar commercial projects and the select residential projects that we are involved with. These residential projects typically involve complete remodelling or newbuilds which require specialist commercial construction knowledge, since small additions and related projects are generally outside of our project base.
